Dorothea Magonet
Dorothea became interested in the Alexander Technique in the early 1970’s during her Physiotherapy training.
After six years of working as a Physiotherapist at the Middlesex Hospital, London, she trained to become an Alexander teacher. (Misha Magidov, 1983) Since then she has worked with students at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and at her private practice. She assisted on the North London Teachers' Training Course for one year and has regularly taught as a visiting teacher on training courses in London, Manchester, Kendal and Amsterdam. She regularly teaches and runs workshops in Japan and Europe. In 1995 she was elected onto the Council of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT), Great Britain, and served as Honorary Secretary and Chair of the Society. She also served as Chair of the Training Course Committee and was involved in the process of Voluntary Self-regulation of the Alexander Technique profession until 2004. In 2007 she became a STAT moderator. She is Treasurer of Friends of the Alexander Technique. Dorothea is currently training to be an Art of Swimming (Shaw Method) teacher. She is also a practicing and exhibiting sculptor. |
